Bio
Julia Gittleman, PhD is a seasoned professional with deep experience in designing and implementing program evaluation and performance measurement strategies. Her work focuses on helping organizations build their capacity to sustain and execute that work independently. Julia has a proven track record with a range of organizations, including those working in youth development, out-of-school time, the arts and K-12 education. She has helped them to advance their planning, program development, performance measurement and management systems.
Through her work at MGA, Julia has focused on the efficacy of programs and organizations. She has designed and implemented systems and solutions for measuring performance, providing technical assistance, coaching, strategies, tools and reporting processes. In undertaking this work, Julia has drawn on her background as a direct service provider, and as an organizational leader designing, managing and evaluating programs in the nonprofit sector. Julia has conducted numerous studies using assessment tools, surveys, interviews and focus groups.
Julia and Tom frequently partner on community research and planning projects, as well as on larger projects that benefit from both of their areas of expertise.
Prior to MGA, Julia began her career as a caseworker, and then spent more than a decade designing and managing human service programs. At Crittenton Hastings House in Boston (now the Crittenton Women’s Union), she held a number of positions over eleven years, most recently as the Chief Program Officer/Vice President of Programs.
Julia received her doctorate in social policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
